I will be teaching k/1 next year and will implement it. What I found in teaching 3/4 was it was great, but I needed to supplement it with centers from TPT and other resources. But, I did this with EM too. It is better aligned with the Core in my opinion.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3812336902103617597.post-56811574965090420122012-08-18T15:04:54.472-07:002012-08-18T15:04:54.472-07:00I have never fully grasped the concept of Word Stu...I have never fully grasped the concept of Word Study. Every time I try something new, it flops. This year I am going to use Words Their Way. I will give the Words Their Way Spelling Inventory. There are three different levels for the test (Primary, Elementary, and Upper Elementary). After students have taken the inventory, you grade it, then fill out a spreadsheet that corresponds with the word list. Based on a child's scores on sections of the spreadsheet, they are put into word study groups that correspond with lessons in Words Their Way. Not sure if it will fully work, but we'll see.

myclassroomismyrunway.blogspot.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3812336902103617597.post-90174665934108333942012-03-12T11:36:52.912-07:002012-03-12T11:36:52.912-07:00We use Fountas and Pinnell as a resource. It is a pretty scripted guided math program. I really thought that it would not be possible, then I found Beth Newingham's website. She lays out how she does a math workshop with the same program we use. It worked out really well for my 4/5 grade classroom last year. I will definitely be doing it again this year in my straight 3rd grade class.IamNanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18050817537346869660noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3812336902103617597.post-15371642637051948372011-08-15T08:02:04.806-07:002011-08-15T08:02:04.806-07:00Hi,

I made labels with the 5 center titles they use. Then I have been dowloading centers from everyone's blogs all summer like crazy to use at the various ones. Hope this helps.
http://ohthelessonslearned.blogspot.com/2011/07/math-daily-5-labels-labels-and-free.html
Lessons LearnedLessons Learnedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15665342136666621323noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3812336902103617597.post-1871417041443776692011-08-12T18:57:42.934-07:002011-08-12T18:57:42.934-07:00Wow, that's awesome!
